This last Saturday I went thrifting in the College Station / Bryan area.  I decided to make a day out of it with a friend, on a mission to find some new clothes for the start of the semester.  I went to five stores — there’s definitely a few more thrift stores in the area — and here are my thoughts.

Sweet Repeat Resale

More of a grunge vibe.  The owners are lovely and very personable.  The husband will help you find whatever you need and more.  Unfortunately it doesn’t have many pieces that are within my aesthetic.  But definitely worth a trip.  Who knows, you might find the perfect piece for the perfect price.

Thrifted Treads

Out of all the stores, I loved this one the best.  But that has to do with it fitting my aesthetic the best rather that the store itself.

The store is a bit more on the pricey side for thrifting, but definitely worth it.  There wasn’t an overwhelming amount of clothing to look for, the dressing rooms were nice, and they had free ice cream!  Even if you aren’t looking to spend, this store is worth visiting for the vibe alone.

Uptown Cheapskate

I did hit up this store last so I can’t provide the best review; I was exhausted of looking at clothes by this point.  But from what I saw, there was an overwhelming amount of items in the store.  If you’re trying to only hit up one shop, this would be your best bet.  But warning, it will be more expensive than Goodwill.  But still cheaper than regular retail.  The pieces ranged from Shein, Lululemon, and various off-brand dupes.

Plato’s Closet

Similar to Uptown Cheapskate with pricing and items, Plato’s Closet is another staple thrifting shop in College Station.  If you don’t find what you’re looking for at Uptown Cheapskate, you might find it at Plato’s Closet.

Second Chance Resale II

Think Goodwill vibes.  This resale store had pieces for cheap, but not all the pieces were great.  You have to hunt to potentially find a lovable find.  So if you have the time and energy, I recommend.  But if not, then it might be best to skip.  Also of note, there were no dressing rooms due to theft in the past.

Howdy! I’m Gabriela Gomez, an avid reader who is interested in all areas of publishing and writing. And reading of course! I’m the Editor-in-Chief; I currently oversee all the publishing of articles for the Her Campus at TAMU chapter. I am overjoyed to read all the members’ articles and make any corrections that will help to elevate the article. I have been with Her Campus at TAMU since my freshman year. The first year I was a general member on the Writing and Editing committee. During that first year, I wrote a total of 23 articles and was always finding new ways to help. For my second year, I worked as the Senior Editor, publishing more than 80 articles and writing 38 articles. Now in my second semester of junior year, I have implemented a new pitch process for better organization and cleanest, I have already published more than 170 articles, and I have written 16 articles and will continue writing more! Besides working as the Editor-in-Chief, I am a dedicated student at Texas A&M studying Biomedical Sciences. I am also obtaining a minor in both English and Spanish. While not studying diligently, I work in a research lab grinding away, trying to get my name on some research papers (fingers crossed). In my free time, I read, obviously. I am also on the hunt for the best latte to ever bless this earth and love a good game of chess!
