A car zooms by,
a boy yelling unkind words about what they want to do to my body.
Screw you, I yell, shocked and pissed off.
Never, never has anyone said something so vulgar before.
.
Sure, I’ve been catcalled before.
Random homeless men or teenage boys,
throwing words and phrases around,
the supposedly harmless action easily dismissed if I walk quickly enough away.
.
But the reality of the situation hits-
And I’m scared.
What if what if what if runs through my mind.
Thank god they didn’t turn around.
