1. Get Involved: Make sure you don’t leave right after your class ends! Try to find clubs to join that work with your schedule, or get lunch with someone from class. Making friends is one of the major concerns of being a commuter, but sticking around campus after class will make it easier!
2. Parking: The biggest struggle commuters face. Try to get to campus at least 30 minutes before class starts, so you have enough time to drive through each of the commuter lots and hopefully land a spot that will take the least amount of time to walk to class.
3. Food: One perk of being a commuter is that you never have to worry about dining hall food, because you will always get free home cooked meals! And because you have your car, you can always drive down the street to get a snack so you’ll never be trapped or starved.
4. On-Campus: Take advantage of the library, student center and dorm lounges! Even though you don’t have your own dorm to go to between classes, the comfy couches and TV’s will make it feel like you have your very own on-campus home.
5. Emails: Make sure you check your email constantly. You don’t want to drive all the way to class only to find out the professor cancelled it at the last minute. The last thing you want is to waste time on that long car ride to school when you could have been sleeping.
Just relax and enjoy the next few years at college- it’s not so bad after all!
