A truly underrated network show, Teen Wolf chronicles the life of high school student Scott McCall as he is bitten by a werewolf and transforms, taking on a new and terrifying life. With Stiles, Derek, Lydia, Allison, Kira, Liam, and even Peter by his side, viewers never know what trouble the Beacon Hills gang is going to get into at the start of every episode. Teen Wolf is streaming now on Amazon Prime, and if you have not seen it yet, here are a few reasons why you should.
1. Scott and Stiles’ relationship:These boys have been through it all together. They have comedic moments, kick-butt moments, and even moments when they fight (like all friends do.) Like the show’s creator says, the real romance on Teen Wolf is a bromance. Scott and Stiles are basically brothers, and are most certainly the heart of the story.
2. Dylan O’Brien’s impeccable comedic timing and one-liners:For his first ever acting job, O’Brien absolutely slays the role of Stiles Stilinski. The only human on the show, Stiles is the spastic, funny, and loyal best friend who ends up being one of the biggest heroes in the entire series. O’Brien’s acting abilities cannot be ignored, as he proves to be the comedic relief of Teen Wolf.
3. Coach Finstock:Probably one of the most underrated characters on the whole show, Coach is the sick and twisted economics teacher/lacrosse coach at Beacon Hills High School. Everything is dramatic with Coach, who really never has to deal with any real drama, which is probably why it comes across as genius comedy.
4. Peter HaleI like to think of Peter as “the one you love to hate”. The selfish and sometimes violent werewolf has been tangled up so far in the webs of Beacon Hills that it’s never a surprise when he shows up in the middle of some fight, scheme, or crime. Sometimes heroic yet never trustworthy, Beacon Hills would not be the same without Uncle Peter.
5. The kick-butt female charactersThe great thing about a show with a bunch of tough male characters is that they have equally as many strong female characters. Whether it’s Allison the hunter, Lydia the banshee, or Kira the kitsune, all the females on the show kick butt just as hard as, if not harder, than the males.
6. Stiles’ undying love for LydiaIt’s clear from the first episode how Stiles is with with Lydia Martin, resident redheaded mean girl. Watching their relationship go from nothing to where it is now feels as though you are truly witnessing one of the best love stories on television.
7. The amount of trouble that Scott and Stiles get intoIf it wasn’t for Stiles, Scott never would have been turned into a werewolf in the first place. The two have schemes up their sleeves 24/7, and although their hearts are constantly in the right place, the amount of trouble they get into every episode is unfathomable.
8. Watching Scott become a True AlphaScott McCall is truly the Peter Parker of Beacon Hills, only with more comedy. The high school sophomore with asthma and no coordination gets bitten by a werewolf in the woods, transforms, becomes the best lacrosse player, gets the girl, and does everything he can to protect his friends and family while trying to keep his grades up. One of the biggest character arcs for him is when he becomes a true alpha.
