With spring break over and done with, it can be hard to find the motivation to do any work at all. The semester is not over, but the final stretch is near. Sadly, we still have a bit of a ways to go until summer. Here are some ways to get you out of your mid-semester slump and get ready to take on the rest of the semester!Â
Find a New Study SpotÂ
We all have that special place where we choose to do our work. Even though this may not work for some people, I find that changing up where I do my assignments is really beneficial to my sanity. I can’t stay in one place for a long time. You may be surprised to find how much motivation you can gain by simply moving from your desk in your room to the library.Â
Make a New PlaylistÂ
Find some new songs to listen to in order to change things up! Music is one of the most influential mediums that can affect your mood. Need to study? Make a playlist full of calming songs to help you stay focused. Need to get your emotions out? Fill your playlist up with some tear-jerker songs that give you a good cry that you’ve been bottling up. Want to feel happier? Listen to all your favorite upbeat songs to jam out to in your free time.Â
Make Time for YourselfÂ
At the end of the say, make sure you have time for some self-care. Read a book for your enjoyment. Binge a show on Netflix. Do a face mask and take a relaxing bath. Grab dinner with your friends, go out on a Monday night, sleep until noon on a Saturday. Hard work is only maintained when it is rewarded and it’s important to praise yourself for all that you’ve achieved and all the progress you’ve made. Treat yourself. You deserve it.Â
Remember Your GoalsÂ
The laziness may be kicking in, but never forget where you are and what you want to do and be. I have been doing a lot of goal setting and to do lists in my planner and it has helped me enhance my work ethic again. It’s okay to take it easy and relax, but remember this is your journey and do not lose sight of what you are hoping to later achieve!Â
Rest and RechargeÂ
Get some sleep! Take some time during the weekend to recharge and prepare for the week so you aren’t a walking zombie come Monday. A little stress is always good, but too much stress can make what could be manageable work seem overbearing. Rather than thinking that wellness is a waste of time, it’s making sure you’re in the right mindset to put your best effort into your work. Your mental and physical health are crucial in getting over this mid-semester slump.Â
