The first time you hear a song, you can always recognize if it has a catchy beat. Big Bang, a popular Korean pop group, recently released their song “Tonight,” and this is definitely the case.
The instant the song begins, there is a mellow dance beat that makes you anticipate the next note. The beat is followed by the sound of an acoustic guitar, and then the real fun begins.
There is something for everyone in this song: A dance beat that will get you up from behind the computer and dancing in no time, and for those of you who like rap, there is some of that in the song as well. However, the raps are predominantly in Korean with some English sprinkled over it.
Hard to ignore is the amazing vocal work from three of the five members of Big Bang.
About a minute into the song, TaeYang begins the chorus. When he sings, try to resist the rush of energy that floods into your body. You just have to move to the sound of his voice.
Although I can’t understand the vast majority of the lyrics, I find myself singing along to the chorus of “Tonight,” doing my best to sound out the words. TaeYang’s chorus is so catchy that I am sure anyone who hears it and gives the song a chance wont care that it’s not in English. The techno vibe of this song signals you to swing to the beat and feel their vocals regardless of the language it is in.
“Tonight” is not supposed to sound like a Miley Cyrus song. It has its own characteristics that set it apart, from the beat to the vocals, and has the power to infect you if you give it a chance.
