He may be a freshman hailing from a tiny high school but this small town boy is about to become a big man on campus. He’s all over TCNJ Snap and Yik Yak and there’s no stopping John Aitken.
Tyler: John how does it feel to be a TCNJ campus cutie?
John: It feels excellent. I feel like I’m joining some elite special group. It’s pretty nice, I’m not gonna lie.
And how are you liking TCNJ so far? Does it live up to all of your expectations?
I love TCNJ. I was coming to school worried how I would gel with everything and if it would be a smooth transition, and it’s been great socially and academically and it has exceeded all expectations.
So a lot of people recognize you from TCNJ Snap, where you’ve been seen playing ukulele and guitar and just fooling around in the dorms and the lib. How does it feel to be featured so often?
Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect fame. Um, I’m a star and I can’t help but shine anywhere I go.
You’ve also have had a few “female admirers” who have called out to you on yik yak, what message would you want to give to all your female fans out there?
Well I’m just flattered and I’d like all my admirers out there to know that I do what I do for the fans. Also they made a great choice in their adoration.
You’re always playing instruments I noticed. How long have you been playing the guitar and ukulele?
I have played guitar for ten years and I wanted to spice it up a little with the ukulele and I’ve just been goofing around with it and the ladies love it.
So it’s safe say you like the attention?
Oh yes.
So you recently were a competitor in the Mr. Wolfe contest and even though you didn’t win you were a crowd favorite. Tell me more about that.
Well, I’m not going to say I was robbed but I feel like I had a good run. I had a lot of fun doing it and a lot of talented people were up there. I thought that I deserved a shot at the gold and I may have lost the battle but the war is not over.
How did it feel to be nominated? Did you expect it at all?
Pretty much. I’m very at home with a lot of people on my floor so not to sound like an arrogant jerk, but yeah.
So I have to ask, were you always like this? What was John Aitken like back in high school?
Up until the 8th grade “John” may not have really existed. Then I don’t know what happened but ninth grade began and John realized that he’s funny and John has been the exact same person since then. I’m kind of just hilarious, handsome, and perfect.
I also know that it wasn’t conventional high school that you went to.
In my high school, my graduating class was 12 people. It’s a k-12, so I was there for 14 years so my high school experience was far from the norm. So college has been tsunami of people.
Where are you from?
Montville Trinity Christian School.
So John let’s talk about your love, life? Who would your ideal girl be?
Well, she has to have a good head on her shoulders, intelligent, someone who is nice, someone who is unique I guess.
Ideal date?
Um, let’s see… no parents. Some nice food. And then maybe an adventure! Like through nature or a fun drive or something. It’s gonna be crazy romantic.
So if you had to describe yourself in three words what that be? I know this might be hard for you.
Okay, uh…funny, confident, and what’s another adjective…
No pressure but I need you to condense your entire being in three words.
Maybe grounded?
Seriously grounded?!
Smart maybe? LOL
So funny, confident, and smart. So based on that who would play John Aitken in a movie? Who could emulate you on the big screen?
Hmm… I’m going through the list and I don’t know…Oh! Chris Hemsworth. Have you seen his body?
What would that movie be called?
Dear John.
So you’ve conquered TCNJ Snap and Yik Yak and have competed for the title of Mr. Wolfe. What is next for John Aitken?
I guess the better question would be what isn’t next. There is no limit to what John plans to do.
