Hoping to get off campus and check out a great new movie? Whether you’re enjoying a classic “dinner and a movie” date with your cutie or spending a relaxing night with a few friends, there’s nothing more disappointing than suffering through a bad movie.
To prevent you from leaving the theater asking yourself “How can I get the last hour and a half of my life back?” Her Campus is here to fill you in on the buzz and let you know which movies are worth your money and which ones you should pass up.
If you haven’t already floored it to the movie theater to see Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher in action, what are you waiting for?! Sure, the plot’s a little weak, but “No Strings Attached” is an adorable romantic comedy that’s guaranteed to make you laugh, but save yourself some blushed cheeks by going with someone other than your mom. WARNING: if you’re hoping to keep it strictly platonic with a special “friend with benefits,” you and your pal might be leaving the theater with second thoughts!
For those of you with Bieber Fever, “Never Say Never” is an hour and 45 minutes of pure heaven. Although the documentary is even more exciting in 3-D, this movie is really only entertaining to fans of our young Canadian heartthrob, so give your boyfriend a pass on this one.
If you’re looking for a new movie to scare the pants off you and your date, “The Rite” is definitely not the way to go. One college critic went so far as to say, “Even though Anthony Hopkins is amazing, he still couldn’t save the mediocre plot” … harsh!
As for “The Roommate,” spare yourself the misery! This plot-less thriller is riddled with bad acting and somehow managed to be entirely un-thrilling. Besides having a totally unrealistic college atmosphere, it wasn’t even terrifying enough to make you wonder about your own roommate’s sanity!
For those of you who want to see an incredibly powerful film starring everyone’s celebrity crush, Marky Mark, it’s not too late to check out “The Fighter.” And if a movie with Mark Wahlberg boxing shirtless isn’t enough to pique your interest, Christian Bale’s acting is no joke, and Amy Adams’ intensity will surprise you. Suggest this to your boyfriend and he’ll love you forever…you can leave out Marky’s abs, though. See this soon because it’s playing on limited schedules in most theaters.
