How to Survive Mardi Gras Away from Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at TCU chapter.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! If you’re thinking about Christmas, you are mistaken! It’s Mardi Gras time. The time of year where you wake up earlier than you would for any class to stand in the freezing cold (or sweltering heat depending on the confusing climate of Louisiana) to catch plastic beads on the street. To an on-looker this celebration could seem like a strange way for people to spend their time, but no season beats Mardi Gras season.

Which is why it is such a bummer to have to miss this amazing time. But no need to worry, here are four ways you can still have your Mardi Gras experience in the luxury of your own dorm room!

1. Ask your parents to send a King Cake! Who knew that just one dessert could be such a luxury!

2. Decorate your dorm room! All you need is some purple green and gold to liven up your room.

3. Pump up the jams! Listen to this awesome Spotify playlist to get you ready for Mardi Gras.

4. Dress for the occasion! Don’t forget to wear your purple, green, and gold on Mardi Gras Day (February 9th) to bring the Mardi Gras spirit to your campus!
