Q: So tell me, is cheerleading at TCU anything like “Bring It On”?
A: “No (laughs), it’s a lot more relaxed than the movie.”
Â
Q: What’s the coolest trick you can do?
A: “My best trick is that I can do a running full.”
Â
Q: After doing cheer in high school, what made you want to continue cheer in college?
A: “Knowing I would be missing out on being on the field for football games and cheering from the sidelines made me want to keep doing cheer.”
Â
Q: In your opinion, what was the hardest part of the try-out?
A: “The try-out is a really long day, it’s really stressful, but in the end it was all fun, and it was a good experience.”
Â
Q: How selective was is TCU’s cheer team?
A: “I know there were about 70 girls in total trying out, and only four freshmen made it.”
Â
Q: What are some standards they hold you to as a TCU cheerleader?
A: “We have to maintain certain grades to stay on the team.”
Â
Q: Now it’s time for a serious question… if you could be any cupcake flavor, what would you be?
A: “Red velvet!”
Â
Q: Since it’s nowhere in the dictionary, could you define what a “cheer-lebrity” is?
A: “Someone who is famous within the cheer world, but they’re really all just talented, normal girls.”
Â
Q: How do you balance cheer, academics, and sorority life?
A: “It’s hard, but I have to really manage my time. My nights and weekends are usually taken by cheer so I have to study during the day and take classes in the morning.”
Â
Q: Again, another important question, what’s your favorite song to sing in the shower?
A: “Oh wow there’s so many… definitely anything Disney!”
Â
Q: TCU students are often considered blessed with the opportunity and resources that this school provides. How would you consider yourself lucky to be here?
A: “Exactly what you said: TCU is truly a blessing. Plus, I feel so lucky to be healthy enough to continue cheering at the collegiate level.”
Â
Q: What’s your best tip for someone wanting to try out for TCU’s cheer team?
A: “Get comfortable with performing in front of other people. Confidence is key!”
