Meet TCU’s Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communication. I did when she was one of my Frog Camp small group facilitators, and I’ve appreciated her love and kindness since then.
Name: Tracy Syler-Jones
Why you should know her: She probably played a part in your hearing about TCU, and works so hard to maintain the image of the school – academically, and in its physical growth on campus.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself. Why TCU?
A: “I came to TCU 16 years ago enthusiastic about the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students attending this university. I wanted to be sure at the end of the day, I could look back on what I did during the day at my job and be satisfied that I had made a difference versus just earning a paycheck.”
Q: What sort of things does your job entail?
A: “My job circles around building TCU’s brand and ensuring a clear understanding of what type of university TCU is as well as the type of experience it offers to its students, faculty and staff. That means identifying current perceptions of TCU’s brand, understanding our identity and then utilizing tools such as advertising, public relations, graphic design, internal communications and social media to reach key audiences and help inform and shape their perception about TCU.”
Q: Favorite TCU memory so far?
A: “Favorite memory so far is having the opportunity to congratulate my youngest son on his graduation from TCU.”
Q: Where is your favorite place in Fort Worth?
A: “My favorite place in Fort Worth is any place where I get to hang out with my friends and family. That’s what makes it special and favorite in my mind.”
