4 Reasons to Be Excited For the Cold Months Ahead

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Yes, the cold weather has officially crept upon us, and this year it has seemingly come out of nowhere. While some of us might be out and about scurrying to find a suitable winter jacket, or mastering the art of layering, others might find themselves in a funk during this time of year (myself included). If the cold weather doesn’t appeal to you at this moment, hopefully these four reasons will lift your spirits about the chillier weather among us!

Hot drinks

I don’t know about you, but hot drinks are always my go-to during the colder months, and there is nothing more satisfactory than walking into a coffee shop during a frigid day and ordering a piping hot drink to ease the chill. It’s the best of both worlds, it tastes good and it heats you up on the way to class. Plus, Starbucks just released their annual festive holiday drink menu so next time you stop in, be sure to order one of the classics!

Movies (Holiday-Edition)

Because what’s better than cozying up to a classic holiday movie during the winter months? That’s right, there isn’t anything better.

When the weather becomes too unbearable to even step foot outside without hypothetically freezing, wrap yourself in a couple knit blankets, turn on the fireplace and set up your favorite feel-good movie. I know that for me, “Love Actually” and “A Christmas Story” are two movies that instantaneously put me in the spirit of the holidays, no matter how many times I have seen them. Next time you are feeling the cold weather blues, turn on one of your favorite classic holiday films to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when the while the weather is brewing outside!

Sweaters and Comfort!

Yes, sweater weather is in fact a valid reason to be excited for the winter time and do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sweaters remain one of my favorite articles of clothing, and whenever the winter months start to come, I cannot wait to throw on a cozy sweater and walk out the door feeling like I have a soft blanket wrapped around me. Besides the obvious comfort factor that sweaters adhere to, they are also becoming more and more chic, with new ways to dress them up and down while still feeling as comfortable as can be!

Outside Activities

While cold weather might not be ideal for going outside all the time, there are still times where you can still enjoy spending time outdoors.

I find that ice-skating is one of my favorite activities to do during the winter time, and even though my skills might not be the best, ice-skating (especially in Philly) is incredibly fun while being festive at the same time

I hope you have enjoyed and will use these reasons to be excited for the winter time!
