This season has been like no other, in fact the last 8 months have been unlike any others in history. However, while the pandemic may be taking away from our academic freedom, it certainly doesn’t have to stop our seasonal fun! Here are 5 things you can do to kick off your autumn festivities the right way!
- Apple Picking
-
Generic? Yes. Always fun? Also yes! Finding a local orchard and grabbing a bunch of friends is a perfect excuse to (safely) get out of the house and have some fall fun. Whether it’s just for some cute photo ops (timer cam selfies are a must) or to bake something yummy with some hand picked apples, you can never go wrong with this one! Plus, who doesn’t love working for their food, right?
- Halloween Movie Marathon
-
This one’s for those cold, rainy autumn days- the ones that call for hot chocolate and fuzzy blankets. Embrace your inner child and kick start into the holiday spirit with some favorite halloween movies or even designate the day to getting into the more “creepy” spirit with some fun, scary movies! Whichever you’re feeling, it’ll be a day well spent. Afterall, lazy days are our favorite days!
- Bonfire
-
One of my personal favorite fall activities is grabbing a couple close friends, some comfy chairs, and a fire pit and having a quiet night! Put on some good music, get the fire going with some s’mores and grill some hot dogs to kick back for a good night. You can never go wrong with cooking family favorites and getting your cozy on!
- Homemade Caramel Apples
-
One of the sweetest and cheapest things to do this season, yet one of the most satisfying! Caramel apples are easy to make, personalize, and to even gift! All you need is some Granny Smiths (maybe pick some yourself for some additional fun!), a bag of caramels to melt, and any toppings you want including nuts or chocolate drizzle, and you’re set! These are a great sweet treat to make one night, and an excellent way to get yourself and others in the spirit!
- Knit a Chunky Blanket
-
I know this one may seem a little out there, however the finished product just might be one of the most satisfying things you’ll accomplish! Run to your local craft store and buy 5 spools of chunky yarn, set aside a decent amount of time, and pick a few good flicks to play in the background to get to knitting! These are easy for beginners, requiring only your hands and some patience. The end result is a chunky warm blanket you can use for decor or to keep you nice and warm for the coming cold months. And the compliments you’ll get make it all the more worthwhile!
Don’t let the pandemic spoil your fun, take advantage of the cool upcoming months and get into the holiday spirit one activity at a time!
