It’s almost that time of the semester again and you know what that means: Dreaded finals. Before you go into some sort of anaphylactic shock because you have so much to study, don’t forget that a simple change of scenery could make a huge a difference between getting a letter grade of a B+ to an A+.
Paley Library and the Tech Center are great, but could get pretty hectic during midterm and finals and it may seem like some sort of war zone trying to get a computer. And when studying at home just isn’t working out, I bet you’ll be wishing you knew a perfect place where you could hit the books.
Check out some hidden gems around campus you would not think to study at.
1. Fourth Floor of Tuttleman Learning Center
This place could easily turn into your favorite study spot. It’s right in the middle of campus and there is always space to study. In the corner of the building on the fourth floor, there is a small study lounge with tables, couches and a pretty view. You could definitely get into some intense studying sessions here.
2. Howard Gittis Student Center: North Side Study Lounges
Now before you say, “What? The student center is the last place I would want to study! It’s always crazy loud in there!” hear me out. If you happen to make your way pass the bookstore and the food court, there is a second floor. Gasp! There’s a huge study lounge on the second floor that has comfy chairs, tables and personal desks for a little extra privacy. This could easily turn into your go-to study spot.
3. Behind Beury Hall
This place is a little difficult to find and not many people know about it, but it’s one of my top spots and it could easily turn into yours! The area behind Beury Hall is a great spot when you’re tired of studying inside and need some fresh air. There are a few seats there and tons of shade, so you don’t have to worry about the sun in your eyes.
4. Second floor of Howard Gittis Student Center: South Side
This location is perfect for group meetings. There are a bunch of rooms where your group could have study sessions or work on projects. All you need to do is call the Student Center and arrange a date and time and the room is yours.
5. Behind Tyler School of Art
This is another great location if you’re tired of studying indoors. Behind Tyler, there is a huge grass lawn where you could easily have your own picnic. This is perfect when Beury Beach (front of Paley library) gets too crowded. Just take a couple of blankets to lay or sit on and bring your books.
