Defy the Elements: 3 Autumn Outdoor Workout Tips

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

Are you worried that the change in the weather will discourage you from working out? Don’t stress! These tips will make sure that you are able to enjoy your outdoor workouts not matter what the weather is like.

1. DRESS IN LAYERS

A common mistake that people make while exercising in cold weather is to dress too warmly. Your body generates a significant amount of heat during your workout, so dress in light-weight, waterproof material that you can easily peel off if you get too warm.

2. PROTECT YOUR HANDS, FEET AND EARS

When the temperatures drop, blood flow is concentrated on your body’s core which leaves your hands and feet vulnerable to frostbite. Wear a thin pair of gloves under a heavier pair to insulate your hands. Don’t forget a hat or a headband to protect your ears!

3. CHOOSE APPROPRIATE GEAR

If it’s dark outside, wear reflective clothing in order to appear more visible. Also consider using chemical heat packs to warm up your hands or feet. Stay warm this autumn to make your outdoor workouts the best that they can be!
