Destressing During the Last Month of School

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

It’s rare that my friends and I can find the time in our schedules to all hangout together. Somehow a miracle occurred and we were able to all get together for a late dinner this Wednesday at the one girl’s apartment.

Although it was close to 9 p.m. when we started to eat, most of us didn’t even seem to be focused on dinner but instead talking up a storm. It had been so long since we were all able to see each other and hear how each other were doing. Even though our conversations seemed simple, talking about registering for classes and funny times, taking time away from our hectic and stressful schedules felt like a breath of fresh air.

Even better was the fact that we were having pasta for dinner. Who doesn’t love spending time with friends and eating pasta?

In counting down the last month of classes, our lives get so busy with school work, events, organizations and work, we seem to go crazy. Although it may be hard to fit in a group dinner like my friends and I did, there are plenty of de-stressing activities you can do.

Group Activities
•  If you and your friends are in Philly over the weekend, take a trip to Old City to visit some of the free sites and venture into some shops. With only one month of school left and the nice weather finally here, there has to be one last trip into the city with some close friends.

•  Play a board game/card game with some friends. Who doesn’t love games? If you feel like you have enough time, plan a game night! Bring back those childhood favorites.

•  Sit outside with friends. We all know when the weather gets nice many students crowd the grassy areas of campus. Instead of going to Beury Beach where you’ll be cramped, head to some of the smaller areas where you can enjoy you’re music and friends company without hearing a million other people talking.

Individual Activities
•  Catch up on some hours of sleep or take a nap. With all those late nights and early mornings, in order to de-stress, you might just need to get a few extra hours of sleep.

•  Hit the gym. Although this may not be on the top of everyone’s list to do when taking a break from his or her hectic schedules, it is an awesome stress reliever. If you don’t want to go to the gym, you can always pop in a work out video.

•  Order out! So you’re probably sick of making your own food and don’t have enough money to go out to eat. Instead, find you’re favorite take-out menu and order in! (It’s cheaper!)

•  Some say they don’t have time to watch a whole movie so instead you can find a TV show and watch you’re favorite episode on www.tvduck.com for free!

Although it’s hard to make time for de-stressing activities, it may be the best thing for you in the last few weeks of the semester, even if it’s only for a half hour every week.
