Megan Fry may not manage one of your favorite sports arenas yet, but this Temple senior from Collegeville, Pennsylvania has a very bright future ahead of her. Majoring in sports & recreation management with a minor in Spanish, Megan is on the right track to making her dream a reality. She is currently interning with Temple Athletics as well as the Philadelphia 76ers! After I had the opportunity to speak to Megan about her plans if voted Homecoming Queen, it is clear to see that her genuine personality and her willingness to help the Philadelphia community would make anyone consider her to be their Homecoming Queen.
If you were a part of any salad, what part would you be and why? Megan would be the lettuce because it is the base, or “the rock” of the salad. She likes to be dependable among her circle of friends and she is always there for them.
Most embarrassing moment: “My most embarrassing moment was when I was bout 15 years old and I had just finished my pointe solo. The costume for the solo was a giant white tutu, and as soon as I was done with the dance the lights went down. As I went to run off stage, I slipped and fell, so it honestly looked like a giant white marshmallow tumbling across the stage!”
Hobbies:Â Dancing (which she has been involved with since she was two years old), sending time with friends, meeting new people and shopping.
Plans after college: Megan plans to start in sales of a major sports arena on the east coast so she can be close to her family. Ultimately she would like to be a general manager of the arena.
Why should you be Homecoming Queen? “I should be Homecoming Queen because I by far have the most school spirit on Temple’s campus, and I love to meet new people! If I could change people’s lives and spread my Temple pride to anyone else, then I think my job would be complete. Being such a representation of Philadelphia, I think Temple has and WE have the power to go out into the community and do community service that our neighborhoods so desperately need. If we could have every student organization do one step more than they are already doing community service-wise, that would make a huge difference. We have hundreds of organizations on campus, so that that extra help would make all the difference!”
And there you have it! You can vote for Megan or any of the other candidates on the Temple Homecoming Court website! Voting ends on October 18.
