October, one of the best months of the year, is finally here and what better way to bring it in than with some cozy fall and Halloween decor. If you are either in a dorm, apartment or staying at home, decorating for the fall is a great way to make you feel cozy. With the monotony the pandemic has brought us, it’s hard to get into the festive mood, but adding a few new items can help bring your spirits (and your room) back to life. Here are a few tips on having to make your room look like a living Pinterest board this fall.

Pumpkins

You can’t have fall and Halloween without pumpkins. They are a staple in the fall aesthetic. This is a great way to find a reason to go pumpkin picking. This way, your decor is your own hand-picked pumpkin, which makes it unique. If you rather have fake pumpkins, there are many you can find in store or online. Fake pumpkins are great to reuse every year and you don’t have to worry about them ever going back. Get creative with the colors and shapes of your pumpkins to spice it up.

Candles

Fall candles are a heaven sent. They typically involve scents of pumpkins, lattes, apples, leaves and spices. This is the perfect opportunity to stock up on some Bath & Body Works candles and have your room smelling like a bakery or a crisp autumn night. Other than the scent, these candles are great for cozy lighting. Shut off your lights and light a candle and you will fall right into the snuggly Autumn vibe.

Baked Goods

Pie, tarts and cakes galore. Having some fall staple baked goods on your kitchen table can definitely help put you in the fall mood. This is the chance to get channel your inner Martha Stewart and bake a whole lot of goodies. If you are not much of a baker, you can buy some of your favorites at a grocery store or support a local business and buy something for a bakery. The smell of freshly baked treats can make your room so much more homey.

A Good Halloween Movie

Another way to get into the fall spirit is to have on your favorite Halloween movie. This could be a comedy, classic or a horror film. Anything that gets you into the festive mood. You could watch it or just have it on in the background while you are doing homework. Just having one on with your candles and fall treats can be a great way to cozy up at home or in your dorm.

Mason Jars

These are nice to use for some many things. You can use them for decoration and put leaves and flowers in them or paint them with designs of pumpkins, bats or ghosts. You can even use them as a Halloween candy jar and place your favorite treats in them. They also make your drinks look ten times cuter for your pumpkin spice latte or apple cider. The possibilities for mason jars are endless.

Blankets

Blankets are a warm and cozy addition to your room. Your blanket could have cable knit, plaid or any design you want, but, it’s mandatory for them to be snuggable. As the temperature decreases, blankets are a nice way to keep warm and could add decor to your bed, chair or couch. Snuggle up with a blanket and watch your favorite Halloween movie for an amazing cozy night at home.

These are just a few ways to make fall feel a little more cozy this season with this unforgettably weird year. I hope they can make your dorm, home, or apartment feel like your fall aesthetic dreams.
