Hey makeup lovers! Keep reading to get the full scoop on E.L.F’s hottest new makeup product.
E.L.F has been a solid makeup brand in the beauty industry for several years now, with its products gaining more recognition through TikTok, an increasingly popular media app. In the past several months, specific products have garnered lots of attention, contributing to their fast sales and decreased quantity on shelves. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Halo Glow Liquid Filter, one of E.L.F’s most viral products as of now. Though many swear by it, I thought I would give it my honest review.
In my review, I’ll break into the following distinct sections: affordability, quality, and overall review. This will help to cover a more broad expanse of review topics, while giving you a fair, and honest evaluation.
Affordability: 8/10
The E.L.F Halo Glow Liquid Filter has a retail price of $14. For makeup that may not seem very high-end, this could be considered expensive. However, the sheer amount of product (1.06 fl oz, to be exact) makes the price worthwhile. I have been using the product for a few weeks now, and it doesn’t show any sign of running out.
To add on to that, other cosmetics similar to the E.L.F Halo Glow Liquid Filter are much more expensive (like the $46 Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter), making the product great for people who want to save some cash.
Quality: 7/10
To use the cosmetic, I first apply a primer and then the product as a base. The foundation-like product blends out very well, making it so that you get a smooth and dewy makeup finish. It completely enhances makeup looks, making skin seem more hydrated and radiant.
Though I use it as a base, it is also versatile. It can be used as an actual liquid highlighter, it can be mixed with foundation, etc. There are countless ways to use the product, making it perfect for people with varied experiences in makeup.
My only qualms are the range of shades and the product’s longevity. In terms of shade range, I have extremely fair skin. I bought the lightest shade of the product, and I still feel as though if I put a little too much product on my skin, it looks a too dark. Additionally, the darkest shade in the line, “Rich,” would likely not work for very dark skin tones. Though blending the product out allows for less shade difference, layering can be difficult for certain skin tones.
Also, even with setting spray, that “perfect glow” only lasts for so long. After a few hours, my skin can go from a gorgeous glow to an oily mess. However, it’s nothing a slight touch up can’t fix, hence the higher rating.
Overall Review: 7/10
The E.L.F Halo Glow Liquid Filter is versatile and relatively cheap. It’s the perfect product to get that cute dewy look without making you too shiny. Though I stated a few issues I had with the product, I still think it’s worth the try. After all, who doesn’t love a nice glow?
