2016 has been a year full of memes, and its Halloween holiday shall be no different. Harambes and presidential candidates will share the streets on October 31st, as will Kenneth Bones and Pokemon hunters. Harley Quinns will dine with Kate Middletons and Khaleesis and Star Wars costumes will reemerge from their brief slumber. From all of these pop cultures pickings, what is a girl to do? Thankfully, Her Campus has listed 4 empowering, girl-power costumes from both the past and present to narrow down your options.

  1. Simon Biles

Who hasn’t dreamed of being an Olympic gymnast? Simone Biles dominated the Rio Olympics, and did so while being fierce and yet totally relatable at the same time (i.e, crushing on Zac Efron, running away from bees, ect,.) Halloween is the perfect excuse to finally wear a bedazzled leotard and to do some wobbly cartwheels.

  1. Anna Wintour

The fierce editor-in-chief at Vogue is iconic, and though everything she wears exudes expense, this costume would actually be quite cheap. Buy the October Vogue, get some shades and wear a peter pan collar, et voila, you are the most important person in the American fashion industry. For added effect, try but fail to disguise your disgust with everything around you.

  1. Rosie The Riveter

An absolute classic. A denim shirt, a red lip and bandana and suddenly you are the image of a war-time working woman. This powerful message, “We Can Do It,” never ceases to inspire any woman of any era. It would be an honor to be Rosie for Halloween, and not just because Beyoncé did it a few years back.

  1. A Suffragette

In this election year, the woman’s vote is especially important. Why not pay homage to the suffragettes who fought for us to have that voting power? Create a sign with a modern-day slogan, whether it be a Beyoncé lyric or Emma Watson quote, to prove that our work here is never done.
