It is no secret that Texas is a land in love with football, I am quite sure that if it was possible to eat the sport of football they would have it for every meal. In their love for football I have noticed that Texans have neglected another great sport almost entirely; hockey.Â
Yes, hockey. I do not know if Texas missed the memo mentioning how great of a sport hockey is but regardless it is time to take action. Being from the North hockey is commonly watched and loved, so when I began working at a sports bar I questioned why they never played any hockey games on the TVs during the season. The answer I got was very simple, “no one requests to watch those games.” How could so many people not want to watch hockey? The sport is fast paced, aggressive (you do not see fights in the NFL like those in hockey), and requires a lot of impressive skill to play. I find in general that the NHL does not have as many fans nationwide as it should.
Now that the Winter Olympics is on TV and hockey is finally on the screens millions of people. I would like to think this will spark some new found interest to the sport. But if the sport alone is not enough to get you Collegiette’s interested then let me introduce you to a few good reasons to start watching hockey.Â

If these boys didn’t just have you jump on the hockey bandwagon, just remember that Carrie Underwood is married to a hockey player. Can you imagine the amount of NFL players who would die to marry her? But no, the famous country star decided a NHL player was the way to go and you should follow her trend!
