Gifts for Every Type of Friend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

The holiday season means spending quality time with loved ones, hot chocolate, Christmas music, and lots and lots of shopping. With so many great friends to buy presents for, it can be hard to think of the perfect gift. You could always go with a gift card, but everyone loves getting a thoughtful present. Never fear, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite go-to present ideas for every type of friend.

The Traveler – A Passport Cover Especially if you’ve got girlfriends going off to study abroad, this one is great. Or if your friend just likes to travel, still perfect. It’s simple, but she can get good use out of it. Plus it’ll remind her to send you postcards of her adventures! Throw in a travel journal too, if she’s a writer!

The Mom of the Group – A Book of Lists One of my friends got this for me a while ago, and I’m obsessed with it. Pages and pages of space for every kind of to-do list and grocery list imaginable. Swoon. Goes great with pens if you’re looking for something extra.

The Partier – Cocktail Recipe Book This one is so much fun, and you’ll get good use out of it too! There are lots you can find that are themed (I just bought a literary themed one, Tequila Mockingbird!) to suit your friend’s tastes.

The Always-Stressed – Bath bombs You literally cannot go wrong with bath bombs. You just can’t. If you’re feeling up to it, there are recipes for DIY bath bombs. Personally, I go with Lush, plus they even have pre-boxed sets if you’re not good at wrapping.

The Stylish One – Art prints There are SO many options here, and you can go SO many different ways with this one. Typography, map prints, watercolor… endless options so you can find one that works for your friend’s taste. My personal favorite sites are Rifle Paper Co. and Evelyn Henson.

Caroline is a third year psychology and French major. Her hobbies include napping, crafting, and shopping. She wears entirely too much navy, spends entirely too much time at coffee shops, and laughs entirely too much at her own jokes (but hey, someone’s gotta do it). You can find her @carolineeelise if you feel so inclined.
Eleni is a nerd who prefers to be called an intellectual. She loves pondering philosophical questions and reflecting on life as a twenty-something, both of which she does on her blog: sharingimpressions.com. Anyone creative and curious is welcome.
