We may be well on our way into April, and you’re probably ecstatic to bust out your cutest denim shorts and pastel colors as spring comes into full swing here in Austin. Unfortunately, the weather in Texas is not so like-minded. One day the temperatures will be in the high 80’s with glorious sunshine, and the next we’re having to pull out our winter jackets and faithful pair of leggings.
So how do you survive this fluctuating weather? Check out these tips to mix winter pieces with spring trends to handle the crazy Texas temperatures.
1) Check the Weather Every Morning
This is the number one rule you have to follow. Even if you went to sleep last night and it was 100 degrees, there’s a very good chance you could wake up with it being cold enough to freeze Littlefield Fountain (okay, so that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea). You can never be too careful when deciding what to wear. Better safe than sorry!
2) Jeans and a Cardigan
Jeans are great because even if it warms up during the day, no one will think you’re crazy for wearing them. They can handle all kinds of weather. Pair them with a casual top and a cardigan, which will give you some warmth but is also easy to stick in your bag if it gets too toasty walking across campus. Check out how Jessica Alba rocked it!
3) Shorts and a Scarf
Wearing some cute shorts and a scarf is a perfect way to blend your winter and spring clothes. Pick a scarf that has bright colors such as light yellow, green, pink, or blue, and you’ll blend right into the spring fashion, plus the shorts make it seem less wintery.
4) Nike Shorts and a Long Sleeve T-shirt
The easiest way to transition to spring! Pull out one of your countless long- sleeve t-shirts and wear it with Nike shorts. The effect is sporty and active, especially if you want to hit up Gregory between classes!
