It’s only been a couple of days since pop phenom Harry Styles wrapped up his concert residency here in Austin, Texas. But many fans, myself included, are already missing him.
Since September 2021, Styles has embarked on a whirlwind of sold-out concert dates known to many as Love On Tour, or HSLOT for short. The wildly popular show has constantly received new legs and extended dates, the most recent being single-city residencies. And for six nights here in Texas, Austin’s newly-built Moody Center had the pleasure of becoming Harry’s House (a clever reference to the singer’s 3rd studio album), receiving a record-breaking total of 100,000 fans.
Complete with fun photo-ops, riveting performances, and “Medicine” if you’re lucky (see what I did there?), there’s no place quite like this one! Here’s what it’s like to spend the night at Harry’s House.
HSLOT Night 3 Recap
On September 28th, 2022, a slew of people dressed in feather boas, bright neon colors, and sequins galore surrounded the perimeter of the multi-purpose Moody Center arena. The occasion? None other than night three of Harry Styles’ Austin residency. Many scurried around, attempting to find the perfect spot to take outfit photos— while others hit up merch stands or waited in varying lines to enter the venue.
By 8:00 pm, most were inside and seated for the opening act Gabriels, a band whose 30-minute set— full of impressive vocals and an old-school sound— immediately won over the crowd. Afterward, a playlist full of classics like Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” kept the energy going, the audience alternating between belting lyrics, chanting Harry’s name, and barking enthusiastically.
Lights went down around 9 pm, with screams permeating the room as a trippy visual welcomed Styles (dressed in an orange and black striped outfit) to the stage. Immediately, he began to greet fans as he skipped around in time to his funk-inspired track “Daydreaming,” which opened the show. The night’s setlist contained many songs from Harry’s House but also hits like “Watermelon Sugar” and a trip down memory lane with One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” each paired with stunning light show productions.
The concert’s stage featured two catwalks on opposite sides, giving Styles full control and allowing him space to interact with the crowd (his responses to fan-made signs did not disappoint) and throw in fun dance moves whenever possible. On par with his stage presence were his dream-like vocals, which left everyone in the audience swooning at one point or another. And just as impressive was the band that accompanied him, whose arrangements breathed new life into each song while also matching Styles’ high energy.
As for the fans, there was no shortage of love as they sang along at the top of their lungs, waved flashlights during sadder songs, and tossed cowboy hats on stage for Styles to wear (in true Texas fashion, of course). In fact, crowd participation this night was so strong even Styles himself had to comment on it, later rewarding the audience by playing his unreleased song “Medicine.” (That part of the show is also responsible for my voice loss the next day, but I digress.) Soon, the night came to a close with his floor-shaking hit “Kiwi,” where Styles used the outro to blow kisses to the crowd and wave everyone goodnight before ultimately running backstage.
Lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, night three of the Austin residency was comparable to “living in a daydream.” From the crowd’s vivacity to the show’s overall production and Harry’s infectious performances, it’s no wonder why one night at Harry’s House is sure to have you looking to extend your stay.
