One of my favorite seasons is upon us—fall. This season is significant as the weather starts to change, the leaves turn brown, and the air becomes crisp. Although fall in Texas hasn’t quite hit due to the higher temperatures, it gets better once the temperature drops. If I could travel to other places throughout the states during this time, here are a few I would love to visit to enjoy the beauties of autumn.
Located in the Green Mountains, Woodstock radiates the autumn magic with the fall foliage that is spread throughout its rolling hills, village streets, and picturesque farms. This city is covered in bridges and historic sites that appear out of a postcard, and are marked with bright pumpkins and cornstalks that decorate store fronts. Woodstock becomes a beautiful town filled with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows that invite visitors who want to take in that crisp mountain air and soak up the beauties of fall.Â
Known for its Halloween history, Salem is a great mix of the mystical and spooky season, while also exhibiting the wonders of the fall. The entire town of Salem is decked out in spooky decor, with a variety of haunted tours, witch museums, and costumed street performances bringing the Halloween spirit to life. The colorful leaves surround this town, creating a contrast to the eerie ambiance of the town’s Halloween festivities.Â
Portland truly shines throughout the season, as the rocky shores and lighthouses stand against the beautiful autumn foliage. The city becomes filled with pumpkin displays and the local cafes are blooming as it is the perfect time to sip on a nice cup of warm, cozy coffee. Maine’s staple—seafood, also stands out amongst locals as it pairs nicely with fall harvest flavors. And just a drive away is the beautiful scenery where visitors can take a hike or drive through coastal trails to see the bright fall foliage.Â
Plum Orchard Lake, West Virginia
At Plum Orchard Lake, fall brings a breathtaking display of colorful woodlands that are reflected in the lake’s glassy surface. Located near the Appalachia, this remote lake is surrounded by forests with the colorful autumn palette of red, orange, and gold making it a peaceful place to visit during this time. This lake is perfect to visit when wanting to go on a canoe adventure or just wanting to listen to the peaceful waters that make up the gorgeous season.
These mountains located in southern New York are the definition of transformation throughout the fall season, as they make their mark on both locals and visitors. These mountains offer endless trails, each with stunning views and cozy mountain towns, captivating the hearts of hikers and visitors. With the ever-changing colors of red, brown, and yellow, visitors and locals can enjoy the numerous scenic lookouts and the rustic feel these mountains have to offer.Â
Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
In Autumn, this national park stands out to many with its blend of evergreen forests, snow-dusted peaks, and patches of the beautiful autumn foliage. As the season slowly changes to fall, the air turns more crisp and the trees ignite in shades of red and orange, casting a warm glow over the park’s lakes and meadows. Along with the stunning scenery, this national park also offers many wildlife sightings, where visitors can experience the raw beauty of Washington’s wilderness amidst the fall time.Â
From the mountain trails of Woodstock, to the mythical streets of Salem, each place offers a unique experience throughout the season. The crisp air and changing colors transform these towns, parks, and mountain ranges into unforgettable getaway locations where nature feels alive and dear to us. Being able to have the chance to witness these places during the fall is the perfect way to celebrate its magic and the beauty of the season. Â
