A Pop of Spring with Enrique

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

Spring 2013 fashion is quickly approaching with temperatures rising throughout the day allowing you to flaunt those bright colors once again. We ran into public relations major Enrique Garay, who is dressed for the weather and the fashion season.

Shirt: Bright yellow from American Eagle
Jeans: Ripped blue jeans from Hollister
Shoes: Navy blue Toms

Knowing Texas, the weather can change drastically in a matter of hours, so Garay was inspired to dress for the weather but remain somewhat fashionable by using a spring color to make his outfit pop.

“I usually just look at what actors are wearing and I base my outfits from what they’re wearing,” said Garay.

Fellas, prints and color are in, but remember to balance each printed or brightly colored item with a neutral opposite. If you’re wondering what colors specifically, aim for bright such as red, orange or blue, and for prints, the nautical style is definitely a workable trend for both sexes.

Guys aren’t the only ones who should wear bright colors. Ladies, electric yellow, mint, mango or peachy colors are the shades that will enhance any skin color and complete whatever spring look you desire. Since temperatures are getting warmer as the weeks pass by, it’s also important to think about the types of fabrics you wear.
Linen and cotton are the two top textiles that keep you cool during those warm days and allow you to be fashionable at the same time. Softer fabrics are simply the way to go this season. Our fashion scoop comes from Demetrius White (he attended NYFW this year with University Fashion Group), who says that this spring is all about the “beachy, Hampton look.” And as far as showing a little leg, “shorts are getting shorter and society needs to accept that,” said White.

Well there you have it Longhorns; make sure to stay cool and fashionable this season.
