Save Time and Enjoy University Grocery Delivery Service

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

Honestly who has time to leave campus to buy groceries? With finals approaching students have no time to get the goodies they need when they need them. For students without cars, it can take hours to get simple goods because of their dependence on the bus system. Even for students with cars, grocery shopping is time consuming.

Brothers Joshua and Jonathan Ou came up with a solution when they started up University Grocery, essentially an online-catalog of groceries, in order to meet the needs of students on campus.

University Grocery is an online store with a constantly updated catalog. To place an order visit their website and set up an account, select the groceries you wish to buy, and pay the delivery fee of $5.00 up front.  If there is something you specifically want that is not on the catalog simply add it into the comments when you check out.  Upon delivery, the customer is only charged the amount on the receipt, either cash or credit is accepted.

Current delivery days are Wednesday and Saturday.  In order to expand their delivery days they are in the process of hiring more drivers to serve student needs.

The groceries are currently purchased from H-E-B. However, University Grocery wants to expand to Central Market, Whole Foods, and even an Asian market.  “Basically whatever the customers want,” Jonathan adds.

Both brothers are electrical engineering majors and know the importance of class, which is why they started this business.  “School is always first,” Jonathan emphasized.

They undertook providing this service as a way to help out their fellow Longhorns.  “[We wanted to give] people extra hours to do what [they] want,” Joshua said.  “Our goal is to help the students.”

Jonathan, a recent graduate from UT added, “My four years went by quickly here.  I wish I had more time to spend with friends.  I don’t think people want to spend that time grocery shopping.”
