Eight months. Eight months of staying home. I’ve gone through waves of emotions and motivation. Some days, I want to do everything. Some days, I don’t even leave my bed. Being a student during this pandemic has been even weirder. We’ve all had to adjust, so I took this time to adjust for the better. I’ve found ways to keep myself motivated, determined, and on track.
- Get out of Bed Early
-
I try my hardest to get up at 9:30 every morning. It was hard at first, but I’ve recently started to do it without an alarm. I never realized how much stuff I could get done by waking up before 1 pm. It’s also crucial for school! I spent a few weeks waking up ten minutes before my afternoon online classes, and I struggled. This has been my most significant adjustment since I’ve never in my life been a morning person. It’s worth all the hype.
- Take Time off the Screen.
-
It’s hard, I know. With almost 100% of life revolving around the internet, I’ve found so much peace being offline. Take a break. Rest your eyes and your brain. These days can feel like a never-ending cycle of screen time, sleep, screen time. Get your stuff done, and then go outside! Take a walk. Do something that’s offline!
- Sleep
-
I know I said to get out of bed early, but it isn’t healthy to bed late and wake up early, either. Create a healthy sleeping schedule. I’ve been going to bed earlier, which has helped me wake up earlier. Sleep is so important, and we take it for granted so often. It’s also the time for you to rest from your screen. Staying home doesn’t make sleep less important. We still need to rest from school and work.
These three things have been crucial for me and my health during this pandemic. I feel like I have all the time in the world right now, so I’ve used it to grow into the best me. I want to continue to grow, and you should, too!
