With the weather dropping below 80 degrees in Texas, it’s easy to want to stay in and watch movies all day in your favorite sweatpants. Trying to stay on top of school work and a job can be tricky when all you want to do is stay indoors. Resisting the temptation of getting a hot coffee or buying new sweaters is a lot more difficult than it sounds.
I make sure to stay productive during the colder months by writing everything down, and I mean everything. Using a planner or reminders on your phone can be so helpful because you’ll be able to visualize everything you need to get done that day or week. Plus you can use colorful pens and sticky notes to make work seem less boring.
Adding in exercise at any point in the day, even if it’s just a 20-minute walk, will clear your mind and give you a boost of energy. Not only that you’ll feel accomplished and ready to tackle anything that comes your way. Incorporating exercise is vital because it forces your body to wake up. Doing this will give you a break from school and work in order to maintain a healthy balance between personal time and work time. Instead of doing work sitting down or in bed, stand up and do your work so that your mind does not associate work with your bed.
Last but not least, ALWAYS MAKE YOUR BED. My mom would always make me and my sister make our beds ever since I was little, and as much as I hated it, making your bed is actually a great start to your day. Accomplishing things at the start of your day big or small is important because it sets up a positive mindset for the rest of your day. Although laying in bed under blankets all day is sometimes necessary, getting out and doing things will save your mental health and allow you to thrive at work!
