Every year when fall rolls around, I’m reminded of how much I love this season. There’s something so refreshing and nostalgic about fall. Whether it be the cooler temperatures or the sight of pumpkins everywhere I look, something about fall forces me to relax, slow down and find comfort and beauty within nature.
I hope the fall season does the same for you. But if it doesn’t, that’s okay! I’m here to provide you with 10 reasons to fall in love with fall, just like I have.
1. The Crisp, Cool Air
After the hot and humid summer, the fall brings a breath of fresh, cool air. Head outside, take a deep breath, and enjoy the refreshing fall air!
2. Sweater Weather
With cooler temperatures comes (almost) everyone’s favourite fashion… sweater weather! I don’t know about you, but there is nothing better than a warm, cozy, oversized sweater on a chilly fall day.
3. The Changing Colours
This might be one of my favourite reasons to love fall. The changing of the leaves from green to orange is a beautiful sight, not to mention a perfect opportunity to take picturesque photos.
4. Thanksgiving
We are lucky in Canada to have Thanksgiving right at the peak of the fall colours. Having your family around the table eating yummy turkey and stuffing is another great reason to love fall.
5. Halloween
You can never have too much candy, right? Halloween is the perfect moment to dress up with friends and enjoy the spooky season to the fullest.
6. Seasonal Movies and Books
Murder mysteries, horror movies, ghost tales, and psychological thrillers never sounded so good. Some of my favourites include Coraline and It. Whatever you choose, fall is the best time to enjoy all things scary and haunting.
7. Blankets and Fireplaces
With the cooler weather comes the warmth of blankets and fireplaces. It’s the perfect time to stay home and watch TV with a warm drink in hand. Cozy up under a woolly blanket, or sit in front of the heat of a fireplace and watch your heart fill up with warmth.
8. Pumpkins
Who doesn’t love pumpkins? Whether you use them as decoration or turn them into jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins scream fall! Invite your friends over for a pumpkin carving night for even more fun.
9. Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
Pumpkin-flavoured drinks and desserts are a seasonal treat I look forward to all year round. One of my favourites is a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Don’t like pumpkin spice? Apple or chai-flavoured treats will also do the trick. I’d recommend a chai tea latte from Second Cup.
10. The Activities
From Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland to the Hanes Corn Maze, the opportunities for fall fun are endless. Get outside with friends and family and enjoy all the awesome sights and sounds fall has to offer.
I hope these reasons remind you of how wonderful and magical fall can be! As L.M. Montgomery said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
