Note: I am in no way an astrology expert. I just enjoy reading horoscopes and learning about astrology.
When you think of astrology, some people only know what their sun sign is (the sign that represents your core personality). Recently, astrology has been surging in popularity due to the massive impact of social media apps like TikTok. It’s been a trend to learn and post about your “big three” –a.k.a your sun, moon and ascendant (rising) signs– and as much as I agree that these three signs shape who you are (from your self, your emotions and energy) there’s another sign designated just for your love life.
Venus runs the show when it comes to your romantic life. Venus, a nod to the Roman goddess of the same name, is the ruler of love, beauty and money. According to Co-Star, your Venus sign “determines how and what you love” by exploring your birth chart. Your Venus sign can help you understand how you express affection and can show you the qualities you look for in a partner.
It is very important to consider astrology through means of natural elements (fire, earth, water, air). Element groupings are pretty similar to each other but different when compared to other elemental groupings. Cafe Astrology explained it like this: “Dramatic expressions of affection may woo a native with Venus in Fire, they may be a turn-off for a Venus in Air individual. Similarly, a Venus in Air native may find it easier to maintain a long-distance relationship than a Venus in Earth person, who needs physical presence more than most.”
Fire Sign Venus (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius).
Fire signs are, you guessed it, fiery, and they might express that they have a burning passion for you in their hearts. Fire signs come across as passionate or spontaneous and don’t want to be bored in their latest love conquest. Fire Venus signs are considered to be hopeless romantics and, yes, I’m talking about the scenes in the cheesiest romance movies. Think of professing your feelings outside a Juliet balcony or dancing in the rain kind of love. They desire to have a fairy-tale kind of romance.
What you give is what you receive! Fire Venus signs crave the love that they give out for themselves as they want to be entertained. A Venus in the fire element doesn’t want to be bored and always needs an activity to keep the “fire” going. For partners, Fire Venus might come across as way too much, but that’s their charm! They like to have as much fun as they can with their partner.
Earth Sign Venus (Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo).
Earth sign Venus’ come off as practical, dependable, critical and reliable (even when in love). This sign is modest since they like to fall in love slowly, and if I had to give you a romantic trope, I would say a slow-burn. Earth Venus’ can oftentimes be picky when it comes to love, but that’s because they take their time with relationships. This sign can also be blunt but means well!
Earth signs, as I mentioned before, are very practical. This means they need relationships to be realistic. If they don’t see something working out in the long run, they won’t put in any energy. Earth signs enjoy connecting with their surroundings, so next time take your Earth Venus date to an outdoor picnic, botanical conservatory, or an art gallery.
If you’re a Taurus Venus then congrats – Venus governs your sign! In other words, Venus is comfortable with your energy. This means that the planet of love builds and guards love and harmony in relationships, which is always a bonus for your love life!
Water Sign Venus (Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio).
Water signs are very (very) emotional when it comes to love, but that’s a great thing because they are receptive to their partner! Like the Latin proverb says, “still waters run deep,” water Venus’ have a deep and intense love for their partner as they strive to achieve soulmate connections, similar to a ride-or-die kind of love. Water signs are dreamy, gentle and love their communication, but can come across as too sensitive with their emotions. The water elements are the most sensitive of all the signs which can lead to getting hurt easily. This can also mean that this sign has a hard time letting go of past relationships.
Regardless, water signs value their loyalty and enjoy being open emotionally with their partner. They find comfort in finding a partner that feels just like “home.”
Air Sign Venus (Aquarius, Gemini and Libra).
I am a little biased when it comes to air signs because I am a Libra Venus. Air Venus’ like to be entertained, independent and value communication in their relationships. Like air, Venus’ in this element enjoy going with the flow. They reciprocate the same energy, which means that sometimes their energy can be interpreted as passive-aggressive. Also, if they get bored, they check out and detach easily. When in love, air signs become more and more talkative, showcasing their lively personality.
Air Venus’ might come across as aloof in relationships but that is definitely not the case! Air Venus’ are not going to go overboard with professing their romantic feelings but they will express it one way or another. This Venus element likes to be the centre of attention and usually wants to be the one swept off their feet.
Like Taurus, Venus also governs Libra. This means that Venus is comfortable and works well with your balanced Libra energy. Read more about this topic here.
