Let’s be honest: daylight savings time is the worst. It’s bad enough the sun sets at 4:30 p.m., but what makes things even worse is that it’s getting way too cold to do anything outdoors.
If you’re a university student, you’re probably spending a lot of time indoors with very little connection to the sun because it’s almost exam season (yay). If you’re working full-time, you’re probably in the same boat.
But why should this stop us from branching out and doing something fun? Whether it’s the weekend or your day off, here’s an activity you can do this winter based on your zodiac sign. And if you don’t believe in astrology, here’s a list of activities to choose from!
Aries: Christmas Market
Feisty, active, and a go-getter, being indoors all the time doesn’t bode well for you. Don’t be too sad, because nothing beats a Christmas market!
The Toronto Christmas Market is a popular choice and is open until Dec. 31. Before Dec. 17, their hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday. It is also open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is free from Friday to Sunday before 4 p.m. and all day Monday through Thursday.
Whether going for a walk, visiting the stalls for a quick bite, eating at one of the restaurants, or shopping, there’s tons to do here!
Taurus: Heated Patios
Opposite to our fire buddies, Aries, the spiritual, reserved, and grounded side of you probably doesn’t mind being indoors too much. As a food and self-care lover, the cozy ambiance of a heated patio combined with delicious, comforting food would do the trick if you’re looking to venture outside. The best part is that Toronto has multiple restaurants with heated patios that offer various cuisines.
Gemini: Ice Skating
As an extrovert, you love being around friends and family, so your witty, chatty, and fun-loving self would love an ice skating night.
Contrary to popular belief, there are various outdoor skating rinks in Toronto besides Nathan Phillips Square, such as the Harbourfront Centre and Mel Lastman Square.
Cancer: Board Game Night
You love taking care of people and adopting the caregiver role. Feeling comfortable and safe is essential to your well-being. Often known as the mother of the zodiac, you prefer spending quality time with those you love over fancy shenanigans.
That is why a board game night is perfect for you. Toronto has various cafes offering board games, food, and drinks, such as Storm Crow Manor and Snakes and Lattes.
Leo: Host A Party
Anyone who knows Leos on a superficial level would say they love being the center of attention, which is far from the truth. You are a generous and passionate individual who does whatever you do with the utmost energy and heart.
Because of this, hosting a party or intimate get-together is a perfect excuse to release that energy! And if anyone knows how to throw a party, it’s you.
Virgo: Yin Yoga Class
Methodical and practical, you are often known as the perfectionist of the zodiac. You are always striving to achieve something or the other, which is why it’s essential for you to take a step back and not be so hard on yourself.
The best way to do this is by practicing some form of self-care. My personal favourite is engaging in movement. Nothing beats a yin yoga or slow-flow yoga class.
Toronto is home to many studios in different neighbourhoods. These include Jaybird, Sweat and Tonic, and many more!

Libra: Self-Care
It’s hard to define you, Libra. You’re often between character traits, sometimes an extrovert or an introvert. One thing I can attest to, however, is that you’re a people person. Driven by the relationships in your life, it can sometimes feel difficult for you to be your own person.
This is why I’m encouraging you to set time aside for yourself this winter. Before you fall back into your people-pleasing tendencies, perhaps go shopping, get a massage, or even take a bubble bath. Walk down Queen West, visit Hammam Spa, or buy a bathbomb from Lush. Do something for yourself for a change.
Scorpio: Pottery Class
Commonly referred to as the mystery of the zodiac, your transformational nature is associated with the phoenix. Scorpios are often said to “rise from the ashes like a phoenix” throughout their lives.
Like Virgos, you may forget to take a step back and care for yourself, so you should try a pottery class. This fun, grounding activity can help you connect with yourself and be more present.
Various studios across Toronto offer pottery classes, including the Gardiner Museum, which offers drop-in classes for $22!
Sagittarius: Arcade Night
Flirtatious, fun, and outgoing, you are always seeking thrill, Sagittarius. Like your fire sign counterparts, Aries and Leo, your desire for adventure makes it hard for you to be tied down to one spot, so I’d suggest an arcade night. There are multiple spots with arcade games across Toronto, such as The Rec Room, Tilt, and Zed 80.
Capricorn: Visit A Bar/Club
While most people consider you the zodiac’s workaholic, this isn’t entirely accurate. You have an outgoing and fun side to yourself that few others encounter, and it can be quite amusing. This may seem a bit basic, but it fits your conventional personality, so go to a pub or club.
Although you are not a workaholic, you are one within the zodiac who sometimes places work on a pedestal. Toronto’s nightlife is extremely vibrant, with numerous bars and pubs scattered throughout the city, allowing you to consider the type of night you want to have. So go ahead and let loose a little, or a lot!
Aquarius: Bookstore + Cafe
You are frequently referred to as the unique and intellectual one of the 12 signs, which is why a bookstore that also doubles as a cafe is an ideal environment for you — a space that caters to your sensitivity, feeding and nourishing you, as well as the intellect in you that likes to read, converse, and analyze!
These cafes are hard to find, just like your sign, but one location is the Glad Day Bookshop.
Pisces: Candle-making
As a sensitive, intuitive, and creative individual, a candle-making class would work well for you. As someone who enjoys creating and imagining, putting your energy into making something will leave you feeling comforted and inspired because it speaks to your artistic side.
A great option is Let’s Make It, a spot in Toronto offering a candle-making and room spray workshop, with locations at the Stackt Market and Richmond Hill.
