The Ryerson MSA (Muslim Student’s Association) is the largest student group and one of the most active on campus. Last week, they had the annual Islam Awareness Week to teach students about Islam and what it means to be Muslim. Especially in light of recent events, it is quite important for people to know what Islam is all about. This creates a sense of community and lack of ignorance amongst students at Ryerson.
During the week, the Ryerson MSA held different events for each day highlighting different topics and themes. They were as follows:
Monday March 20th
– What is Islam?
– Pick up a Free Quran!
– Professional Networking Night
Tuesday March 21st
– Cultural Diversity
– Islamophobia | From Stranger to Neighbor
Wednesday March 22nd
– Who are the Prophets?
Thursday March 23rd
– Historical Timeline of Inventions made by Muslims!
– Comedy Night
Friday March 24th
– Poetry Slam
– Outdoor Jummah
Getting to know the Muslim community, and really understanding fellow Canadians is pivotal to the progress and well being of Canadian society!
