Fun With Food Friday! Faux Frostys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.

Craving a chocolate Frosty? Don’t go on a Wendy’s  trip. Instead, make your own.

This is a must-try! Frostys are so delicious, but they also have so much added sugar. I found a great recipe online for a homemade guilt-free version of the Frosty. Check it out!

My first Faux Frosty! Yum!

What you’ll need…

  • ¼ cup of no sugar added Nesquik
  • 1 cup of skim milk
  • 4 cups of vanilla frozen yogurt
  • AND a blender.

Note: This recipe makes two large Faux Frostys. While 4 cups of fro-yo is nearly the entire carton, I do recommend sticking with this amount. You don’t want to make a Faux Frosty without also making one for your roomie. That is how wars start.

What you’ll do…

Step #1: Blend your Nesquik and skim milk on high for ten seconds.

Step #2: Add your vanilla fro-yo. Blend on pulse (the pulse button on your blender just blends your mix in short bursts).

Just added the fro-yo in the blender. Four cups is a lot!

Step #3: Freeze your blended mixture for at least an hour before serving.

I put my mixture in plastic cups to freeze. Do not put them in glasses!

Step #4: Enjoy your Faux Frosty! I definitely did!

Why it’s a healthier choice…

It is low in calories and sugar (definitely lower than regular Nesquik). Also, it is a surprisingly good source of protein.

Skim milk is a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, and protein. Skim milk has significantly less calories than whole milk.

Frozen yogurt is a good source of calcium and protein. While it is high in sugar, it has a lot less calories and sugar than regular ice cream.

Ladies, let’s use our blenders for making something other than cocktails. Use them to get your chocolate fix with some Faux Frostys!
