Hair Trend: Crochet Braids

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.
A trip to the beauty supply store is full of limitless possibilities. A variety of textures, colors and lengths are available to begin the hair styling process. Winter is a particular time when natural hair girls decide to get a protective style. The wind and dry air can cause breakage to occur on your own hair. Weaves, braids, twists and wigs have often been an alternative to natural hair. Crochet braids are another alternative to those protective styles and it has reemerged as a popular, easy and fun hair trend on the scene right now.
You don’t need a needle, thread or 13 hours of time to achieve this look. First, you choose from an array of braiding hair but marley hair is the most common. Then, get full head of cornrows. The braid pattern is up to you. Use a latch hook to crochet the hair into your cornrows and now the basic installation process is complete.

But the fun isn’t over yet! Styling is the next step. Wrapping your new tresses around perm rods and hard rollers then dipping them in hot water or using a dryer hood is the best way to lock in those spring like curls, wonderful waves or a full fro.
