A big welcome to the newest weekly post, Music Monday! Every week, we will be posting a playlist compiled of 10 songs. Some new, some old, some top 100 tracks, but come together as our playlist of the week.
This week, the playlist includes, “Thrift Shop – feat. Wanz” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons, “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line, “Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch)” by Calvin Harris, “Gone, Gone, Gone” by Phillip Phillips, “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons, “Sail” by AWOLNATION, “We Come Running” by Youngblood Hawke, “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, and “Kids in the Street” by the All-American Rejects.
All 10 tracks are catchy and have strong beats. “Thrift Shop” is one of those songs you cannot help but sing along to. Its ridiculously funny lyrics remind you of the ridiculous, but penny savers you find at the thrift store. “Gone, Gone, Gone” and “Cruise” have playful guitar lines. “We Come Running” and “Sweet Nothing” share a unique sound compared to some typical radio hits. “I Will Wait” and “I Won’t Give Up” are opposites speed-wise, but share a common thread. They both rely heavily on the music. “Kids in the Street” and “Sail” introduce a strong musical presence immediately, creating a cool, playful setting.
Although all 10 songs do not come from the same genre, scene, etc, when mixed in this playlist, they come together to create an everyday playlist. Click on Music Monday: February 4 and stay tuned for next week’s playlist!
