Since my college tution includes access to a gym pretty much any time I feel like it, I figured now would be the time to start getting in shape. So I’ve been trying to hit the gym every other day in an effort to be a little healthier. But I wouldn’t dream of leaving to work out without my iPod. Here’s a list of my recommendations for what to listen to, no mater what you’re doing at the gym.
Stationary Bike
When I’m on the bike, I want something fun,fast-paced and high-energy. It can be dancey or raging, as long as it gets your blood racing from the first note.
“Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)” by My Chemical Romance
“Brianstorm” by the Arctic Monkeys
“SOS” by Rihanna
“Tell ‘Em” by Sleigh Bells
Rowing Machine
To keep the motion of the machine going, I go for songs with a great beat, such as…
“Into the Groove” by Madonna
“I Kissed A Girl” by Katy Perry
“Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis
“Say It Right” by Nelly Furtado
Weight Machines
It’s a scary world, I know. A lot of girls hesitate at the weight machines, since they look like the college equivalent of a clubhouse with a No Girls Allowed sign on it. But nobody cares what setting your machine is on, and they really help. Get over the fear with a mix of girl power music and ferocious emo-rock–the combo will give a Wonder Woman high.
“Bite to Break Skin (Legion of Doom Remix)” by Senses Fail
“Telephone” by Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce
“In For the Kill” by La Roux
“Stiff Kittens” by Blaqk Audio
Walking Home
I live on one side of campus, the gym is on the other. After I’m finished in the gym, I mellow out with a leisurely walk home and some super-chill music.
“Little Bird” by Imogen Heap
“Pigeon” by Tennis
“Shelter” by the xx
“Lions and Tigers” by Asobi Seksu
