iPhone 6: Bigger, Better, and …Bendable?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

The iPhone 6 began selling in stores on Friday, September 19. We were all excited about the new iPhone being released this fall. Everyone had high hopes for the bigger, better, and faster phone that Apple promised and advertised for. Unfortunately, the device we all covet has been nothing but a huge let down. Feedback on social media tells us that the 6 and 6 Plus (more so the Plus) have a propensity for bending—especially when in a pocket of tight pants for an extended period of time. Videos of people bending their new jumbo-sized iPhones continue to make the rounds on social media. However, some may argue that the phone is a significant improvement. It’s light, thin, and the camera produces a much better quality of photos.  Some consumers have also expressed that the phone’s battery life is longer.  Additionally, the phone’s new “Apple Pay” feature has consumers impressed and pleased. If you are still torn between the Android and the iPhone, there is no doubt that the iPhone still remains the best and most desirable smart phone on the market. It is definitely worth going to check out the new iPhone 6, but stay away from the 6 Plus unless you want a bendy phone.

The iOS8 software came along with the introduction of the new iPhone, and surprise: it’s a disaster. People who have installed the software on their phones have instantly regretted it.  Many have complained that the software has disrupted their phone’s ability to make calls, disabled the TouchID fingerprint sensor used to unlock devices, and messed with group text messaging and iMessage.  Apple has received so many complaints that they’ve already had to release a second version of the iOS 8 software.
