10 Ways to Stay Stress Free

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

You’re halfway through the semester, you have four exams coming up in the next week and you feel like your brains are about to explode! But don’t get too stressed out. Here are 10 ways to stay stress free during midterms:

1.     Make Small Goals

Keep yourself motivated! When studying, use your favorite treat as an incentive to keep going (try having a gummybear everytime you finnish a chapter). Also, try to make small goals of what you need to get done to keep yourself on schedule.

2.     Treat yourself

After getting past those small studying goals, treat yourself to dinner out with friends, or a movie. Just because you’re studying doesn’t mean you can’t take a break to have fun!

3.     Get Some Sleep!

Contrary to popular belief, all nighters are rarely a good idea. If you find yourself burning out, take a caffeine nap: drink a cup of coffee and go to bed; the caffeine will kick in within 30 minutes and once you get up you’ll feel refreshed and ready to go.

4.     Study in Groups

Get a group of your friends who need to study and head up to the library for the afternoon. Set timelines together where you work for a certain amount of time and then take short breaks to chat and relax!

5.     Change up the atmosphere

Working in the same place over and over again can get boring and cause you to be less productive! Try studying in a different place for every subject. Changing up your environment will help keep you focused!

6.     Cut out the distractions

Log out of facebook, stop checking your instagram, exit out of twitter and put your phone on silent! There are great sites like getcoldturkey.com for Windows Users (or selfcontrolapp.com for macs) that temporarily disable social media and other sites for short amounts of time- making sure you get your work done!

7.     Exercise!

Get up from your desk every once in a while to stretch or try going on a run! Not only does exercising make you feel more awake, but it also stimulates your senses and is  a refreshing break between studying.

8.     Eat Right

We all know that we get stressed all we want is junk food! But switching that pint of Ben & Jerry’s for a crisp Caesar Salad will give you more energy and make you feel better about yourself in the long run!

9.     Stay Healthy

Taking care of you mental and physical health is crucial. Health should always be your top priority! When you’re healthy, you can do anything you put your mind to!

10.  Don’t stress about the past

We know you’re taking tests after tests after tests, but be sure to keep your head up! If one test doesn’t go as well as planned, don’t let that affect your studying for future exams. Never forget to keep your chin up!

And when you’re done studying, treat yourself to a great brunch with friends somewhere in Boston.
