5 Makeup Tricks for the Late-Sleeping Collegiette

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

After you miss your alarm and realize that you woke up ten minutes before class starts, it’s easy to bolt out of your room looking completely frazzled. So, next time you wake up late, keep these five easy (and super quick) tips in mind so you can look put together and wide awake in no time.

1. Concealer

Perfect skin can instantly redefine your overall look. Make sure to cover any imperfections and your dark under eye circles with a creamy concealer. When I’m not in a rush, I’ll use different types of concealer for different portions of my face. But, if I need a quick fix fast, I won’t bother with multiple concealers. Use one concealer that matches your skin tone exactly to cover up imperfections around your face. I love blending in with a patting motion using my fingers. The warmth of your body heat will help the product blend in quickly. Then, take that same concealer under the eyes and blend with a fluffy eye brush for a perfect finish.

2. Highlight

When you’re exhausted, looking like you’re bright eyed and ready for class is difficult. But, using a fine, light, shimmery powder can help you achieve that look. Taking an eyeshadow brush, dust the powder along your cheekbones, under your brow bones, in your inner eyelids, and on your cupid’s bow for an instant pick-me-up. If using a powder is too much of a hassle, considering using a creamy, white eyeliner pencil instead.

3. Cream Blush

Rosy cheeks are an easy way for an instant healthy glow. The fastest way to achieve a glowing cheek is with cream blush. Rub the product in your fingers and blend in circular motions on the apples of your cheeks and back into your temples. Remember to blend the product evenly so it doesn’t look patchy!

4. Bright lip gloss

Bright lip gloss will bring more attention to your lips, and will give you a brighter complexion. Unlike lipstick, lip gloss is foolproof, and gives you an easy, natural looking shine. Try to stay away from glittery glosses that may give you the appearance of trying too hard. Look for crème finish products with precise applicators. Bright pinks, fuchsias or reds are my favorite go-to.

5. Eyelash Curler

This step is so simple but, a lot of girls forget to do it. Just curling your lashes will open up your eyes, and make you look more awake!
