Do you know that feeling when your friends have an inside joke and you’re left out? Well, I am glad to say that I felt included during the April Open House mp3 Experiment, unlike the hundred of pre-frosh who looked at those of us with ear-buds in complete shock and awe.
Organized by graduate student Jackson Dolan, the flash mob experiment avec Improv Everywhere was held on the Presidents Lawn as well as Academic and Res Quads last Friday at Goddard’s noon chime. Once there, students wearing specific color clothing depending on their class year amassed and began listening to an instructive – albeit creepy – voice and song track that that led the shenanigans that ensued.
For a glorious twenty-six minutes and twenty seconds, myself along with many of my friends and peers got to form an enormous conga-line, pretend to be dinosaurs, have a giant rock-paper-scissors tournament, high-five every prospective student we could find, and hold an enormous impromptu dance party.
The spontaneity and shared insanity definitely impressed many members of Tufts class of 2015, with one proclaiming “Did you see that!? Ok, that confirms it, I’m going to Tufts.” That sentiment, along with the many strange looks and dropped jaws, made me a very proud participant of the April Open House mp3 Experiment!
