The Best Local Places To Get Piercings Near Tufts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

While sitting in a tedious lecture or waiting in line at the Rez, you might’ve noticed how cartilage, tragus, and eyebrow piercings are extremely popular on campus. Piercings seem to have become a trend amongst every collegiette latelythey’re no longer just for edgy girls. I personally have seven piercings in total on both of my ears. Do you want to become the collegiette who always has awesome stories to tell about her piercings like I do? If the piercing craze at Tufts is going to continue, you’re going to need to know about these great, local places near campus where you can get your own piercings.

The Boston Tattoo Company

Davis Square (260 Elm St, Somerville)

Price: $$ ($50-$90)

Yelp Rating: 4/5

The Boston Tattoo Company is located in Davis Square right next to Starbucks. Due to its great location and the positive reviews, it’s the number one choice for many people on campus who are looking to get pierced. The store may seem a little sketchy and dark on the outside, but as a reputable tattoo parlor, it does a very neat job on both piercings and tattoos. Walk-ins are welcomed.

Chameleon Tattoo

Harvard Square (36 John F. Kennedy St, Cambridge)

Price: $$ ($50-$100)

Yelp Rating: 4/5

Chameleon Tattoo is located in Harvard Square right above Ben & Jerry’s and next to Newbury Comics. The space is open, bright, and very clean. You have to get the jewelry from the shop across from the tattoo parlor and wait for your piercing to be scheduled. I have had my piercings done with both of the store’s piercers (Owen and Dustin), and they are both professional, careful, and friendly throughout the entire process. It is a very safe environment to get a piercing. Chameleon might be a little pricier than the Boston Tattoo Company, depending on what piercing you’re planning to get, but it has great reviews as well. Walk-ins are welcomed.

Empire Tattoo

Somerville (151 Washington St, Somerville)

Price: $$

Yelp Review: 5/5

http://empiretattooinc.com

Empire Tattoo is located in West Somerville and it takes around five to ten minutes to drive there. This parlor is a hidden gem; it is somewhat hidden on the street, but the interior space is clean and bright. It received a five-star review on Yelp for its careful procedure. The staff is really friendly and they are very patient and calming if you are nervous about getting piercing or tattoo. Walk-ins are welcomed as well.

After you get the piercing, don’t forget to give your piercer a tip! And be sure to take good care of your new piercing. Whoever gave you the piercing will give very detailed instructions on how to keep your piercings sterilized to prevent future infection. Be sure to bring your Driver’s License or another form of ID (your student ID won’t work) to prove that you’re of age as well. May you have a great adventure while getting your next piercing, collegiettes!
