Pantene Beautiful Lengths

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

With spring around the corner, many collegiettes are thinking about getting their hair cut and ready for the warmer weather! But, this past Sunday, 12 collegiettes cut off a little more than your average spring trim! These amazing women donated 8 or more inches of their hair to LCS Cancer Outreach Society’s Pantene Beautiful Lengths hair donation event.

The event was held in honor of Vivien Lim, a Singaporean Tufts student class of 2013 who unfortunately lost her battle with a rare form of cancer last September.  Her passing was a great loss to the Tufts community, and many Tufts organizations, including Singaporean Students Association, Tufts International Club, Cancer Outreach, are working to honor Vivien’s life and raise money for her research fund at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths is a program created by Pantene and the American Cancer Society to provide wigs for women fighting cancer and help them “feel like themselves again.”  And the Tufts event was a huge success! Not only did 12 women donate their hair, but the event lasted from 6-11 PM!  One of the attendees, Miranda Siler, donated two ponytails of hair!

Enough hair was donated to make a full wig for a woman fighting cancer.

In addition to the hair donation, the SSA also hosted a drinks sale on Wednesday, March 5th and the Tufts International Club donated $2 from each Parade of Nations ticket to the research fund.

Keep your eyes open for more opportunities to help this cause! If you would like to make a donation right now, visit the website!
