This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday, meaning this spooky holiday will be a weekend-long affair. Starting Thursday night, Tufts students will be adorned in some of the most creative and outrageous costumes imaginable (we’ve got some unrivaled ingenuity). Here are some tips to make the most of the three-day absurdity.
1. Prepare three costumes
You may think no one will notice you wearing the same bunny ears Thursday and Saturday nights, but there are only so many people on this campus. Part of the fun is seeing what others have come up with! Try and come up with three different costumes—but don’t stress too much about it. If you can’t think of one, maybe ask some friends to do a group costume?
2. Go beyond the classic cats and witches
Now is your chance to show off how dang creative you are. Head over to the Garment District  in Cambridge, invest in some face paint, hit up Goodwill in Davis Square, and take advantage of that clutch Amazon Prime next-day shipping. My favorite costume from last Halloween was my Tina from Bob’s Burgers costume—the glasses + socks + skirt cost all of 10 bucks off Amazon.
3. Think twice about the costume you’re wearing
What’s so wonderful about Tufts is our social awareness and our ability to respect all people. When you decide on a costume, know that what you think is okay might be offensive to others. If you’re unsure, ask a fellow Tufts student. You can almost never go wrong with dressing up as a grilled cheese, a clever pun, or Mermaid Man.
4. Trick-or-Treat at President Monaco’s house!
And take a picture with him while you’re there. He loves it! And his Batman costume is INCREDIBLE:
5. Be a little more proactive with your work this week
It’s safe to say there will be little time for homework this weekend, so make sure to get everything done early so you can avoid the stress of cramming on that Sunday of Halloweekend. That way, you can get down like Tina without a care in the world:
