This past month, Harlequin Publishers released Terms of a Texas Marriage, the newest addition to the Desire series written by Lauren Canan. The novel tells the story of Shea Hardin and Alec Morreston, two enemies turned lovers while fighting for the same piece of land under pushy circumstances.
I expected the novel to be incredibly cheesy and predictable, but I was happy to be proven wrong. Every time I thought I knew what was coming, someone or something would interrupt to take the book in a completely different direction. The storyline provided a great build up to the big love scenes.
As for the chemistry between the two protagonists, it completely leapt off of the pages. I was enticed from the start. It wasn’t the cliché “he said, she said” style of romance that there seems to be so much of on today’s shelves. There was actual depth to the characters, and the love was genuine. It was a love story that at first seemed overly complicated, but grew to become something realistic. You wouldn’t be surprised to hear a story just like it when you’re out to dinner with your friends.
I highly recommend this romance novel to anyone who is interested in reading about intimacy and sex, and not about intense BDSM like what is found in Fifty Shades of Grey. Terms of a Texas Marriage will keep you wanting more. Disclaimer: you may become a Harlequin series addict like me.
You can buy this novel electronically on iBooks or Kindle, or you can order a paperback from Amazon. This book, in addition to the rest of the Harlequin romance series, will give you a nice break from reality, and it will definitely keep you highly entertained. Look it up now and read away!
