5 Celebrity Halloween Costumes You Wish You Thought of First

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

When the stars celebrate October 31st, they go all out. While the rest of us piece together a costume consisting of your best friend’s roommate’s high school cheerleading uniform or comb through massive piles of oversized clothes at our nearest thrift shop, the rich and famous are taking it step further with some crazy costumes.

And even though I wouldn’t trade in last year’s ridiculous 101 Dalmatians costume or whatever outfit I’ll pull together from my friends’ closets for Halloween on Frenchman Street this year, I’m hoping that some of these outlandish celebrity costumes inspire those of us still browsing Pinterest for ideas at midnight on the 30th.

Heidi Klum’s Lady Godiva Costume

The supermodel and Project Runway host brought this out-of-the-box costume to our attention during Halloween 2001. From the real life horse to the crazy wig to the fake blood, Klum put those of us to pull together a last minute costume to shame. And this isn’t the only costume she’s wowed with, the mogul has also dressed as the human body and Betty Boop.

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carrey’s Cookies and Milk Costume

Whether you have an actual significant other or a just best friend who you might as well be dating, the couple costumes is always adorable. This power couple dressed as the classic combination of cookies and milk, putting every other duo to shame in the process with their cuteness. My favorite thing about this costume? The attention to detail—Nick’s milk carton expires on the 31st and Mariah is ready with a box of delicious Famous Amos cookies.

Child Stars Take on the Group Costume

If anyone tries to tell me that they didn’t watch The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, I’m calling  a lie. That’s why I had no choice but to feature this outrageous KISS costume that Cole and Dylan Sprouse put together with their parents one Halloween. Whether you’re dressing up with your whole crew of friends, your family or even your dog (we were Dorothy and Toto one year…please judge us), this costume is sure to set the bar high.

“The Today Show” as the Royal Family

If there’s one thing that 2011 is known for in pop culture, it’s the royal wedding. From Kate and Pippa’s dresses to the fascinators that pushed the boundaries of fashion, it was a wedding that made getting up at 2 in the morning to watch TV well worth it. That’s why I love that “The Today Show” cast went all out with this timely costume—from the crazy hats to Matt Lauer as Prince William, it’s no wonder that we’re still talking about (and considering copying) it two years later.

Pink as a Scary Clown

Maybe it’s just my general distrust of clowns, but this singer’s outfit makes my top 5 list due to the shear creepiness factor of her Halloween costume. From the crazy wig to the makeup that makes her vaguely resemble a character from a nightmare most of us had as a child, this is one costume that is sure to scare away any trick-or-treaters that come to your house (it’s up to you if that’s a good thing or not—more candy for you but it’s hard to say no to adorably dressed kids).
