Looking back at the articles I’ve written these past one and a half semesters, I’ve realized how lucky I’ve been to experience some of the most amazing things this beautiful city has to offer, but also how much I’ve yet to do. I don’t think there are enough hours in the day to fit in all of the great New Orleans’ activities into my four collegiate years, but I’m sure going to try my best!
Some of these may have to roll over into my second year at Tulane–especially mustering the confidence to drive in NOLA–but I know that as the year goes on I’ll have many, many more to add to this list!
So take some of my ideas or come up with a completely different list that’s all your own!Â
1. Go to Jazz Fest–just look at the lineup!
2. Visti Storyland
3. Go thrift shopping on Magazine Street…Insert obligatory Macklemore reference here…
4. Try–and maybe even enjoy–alligatorÂ
5. Conquer my fear of driving in NOLA–maybe I’ll save this one for next year?
6. See the filming of a movie–New Orleans is called the Hollywood of the South, you know?
7. Volunteer at the Louisiana SPCA, because who can resist adorable animals?
8. Eat at Commander’s Palace–expensive, but I’ve heard it’s completely worth it!
9. Learn how to make beignets from scratchÂ
10. Take a trip to Aquarium of the Americas
11. Go to a Saints game–meeting Drew Brees is also on my bucket list
12. Spend the day at Audubon Zoo–again, who can resist adorable animals?
13. Go to Mardi Gras WorldÂ
14. Take a New Orleans cooking class
15. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity–a great experience for an amazing cause
And if you’ve done something great this semester, send me an email at ijaye@tulane.edu–I’m always looking for new adventures!
