What’s up Her Campus readers? Welcome back to a new school year! Personally, I have always believed a new year starts in September, not January. Fresh beginnings, including blank notebooks and a new pair of shoes, are definitely a favorite of mine. Such beginnings can mark the start of a new relationship, or the end of one. Celebrities certainly do not lead the average lifestyle, which may be why so many of their marriages last a few years, mere months, or even days. This summer saw much of that, with many surprising break ups as well as unexpected unions.
To start off lightly, let us first discuss some new partnerships amongst our favorite over-exposed stars. Perhaps the most beautiful new couple is Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio. These two have been dating since May and have been spotted across the country, from Los Angeles to New York, and around the world, in countries like Italy and Australia. The actor even purchased a Prius for the starlet.
Another summer celebrity matrimony is that of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries. Their wedding has become a top seller of magazines and the television special, “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding,” will air next month.
Some celebrities will begin the fall as newly single. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have recently split after seven years of marriage. With some recent success on the show “American Idol” and a new album ironically titled “LOVE?”, it seemed to the public eye that Lopez had everything going her way. Unfortunately, after rumors of infidelity on the part of Anthony, Lopez decided to leave the relationship. The couple has twin toddlers.
An additional couple with children who split over the summer is that of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Their split is due to confirmed unfaithfulness between Schwarzenegger and an employee, in which he fathered a child. Such unfortunate endings are certainly not favorable, yet I believe these celebrities should look at their recent break ups as a way to start anew. A little change in the weather and a greater change in lifestyle may just be a pleasant surprise.
