Get Out, Go Reily!

As the days continue to get longer and sunnier (yay!) it seems like spring has officially sprung here in New Orleans. Tulane students can finally transition from spending their days holed up in the library in an attempt to escape the cold and blustery winds, to laying out on one of the quads with books open and tunes blaring. Even though midterms are approaching, it’s easy to forgo studying in favor of being outside with friends, enjoying the beautiful weather.
Â
Now, I don’t want to seem like I’m rushing things here, but after a few days of basking in all of the glorious southern sunshine, I get a little antsy. After spending my entire Saturday in Audubon Park last weekend, I decided to check out what kinds of adventures were readily available to Tulane students for the rest of the semester.Â
Â
Luckily, we’ve got Reily Outdoors. If all that comes to mind when you think of “Reily Outdoors” are the Tunica Falls Day Hike and the Angola Prison Rodeo, think again.
The Outdoors program unveiled some awesome new trips for Spring 2011 that incorporate strawberry picking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing.Â
Â
I mentioned the Spring Break SCUBA, Snorkel and Sun trip being hosted right after Mardi Gras in last week’s post, but here’s a little more information in case you’re interested. The deadline to register is Wednesday, March 2, so sign up now!

Join Reily Outdoors as they visit T.H. Stone Memorial State Park and Vortex Springs for a week of outdoor adventure, Florida style! This week of eco-kayaking, hiking, snorkeling and scuba diving is designed for all skill levels, and the price ($375) includes transportation, meals, guides and equipment. Trip leaves Wednesday, March 9 and returns to campus on Sunday, March 13.

Tune into my second blog post of the week (that’s right, you now get TWO doses of adventure each week!) for information on the trips happening after Spring Break!
