Welcome back from spring break, Her Campus readers! While everyone escaped from schoolwork for a week and tuned out to the world, Hollywood, GOP candidates, and celebrities were quite tuned in. In case you haven’t caught up on everything that’s happened while we were on break, here’s a glimpse:
1. Snooki confirms she’s pregnant. Our beloved guidette is now with child. This could either make for some serious “Jersey Shore” entertainment, or an even worse disaster waiting to happen.
2. Justin Bieber comes out with a new song, “Boyfriend.” My Twitter-feed was overloaded with “#10hours!! OMG I LOVE YOU JUSTIN!” from Justin re-tweeting his fans. After all of the hype, I found that Justin is almost trying to imitate Justin Timberlake in his new song, something no one can ever do.
3. Hilary Duff gives birth to her first child. Our childhood idol, Lizzie Mcguire, is now a mom! She and husband Mike Comrie are now proud of parents of their baby boy, Luca Cruz.
4. Facebook fights for employee privacy. In recent months, employers have asked job applicants to give them their Facebook passwords. In response, Facebook says, “We’ve made it a violation of Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities to share or solicit a Facebook password.” U.S. Senators have also taken action and plan to draft a law preventing employers from asking applicants for their Facebook passwords.
5. CNN Polls indicate that 60% of Republicans want Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul to drop out of the race. Are these statistics that shocking? At this rate, neither of the two candidates stands a chance against Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney.
6. The Hunger Games sets a new record as the third-largest movie debut in terms of revenue for a non-sequel, with $155 million its opening weekend. The books-turned-movies are predicted to be the next big franchise, following in the footsteps of Twilight and Harry Potter.
7. Tim Tebow gets traded to the New York Jets. Will Tim Tebow continue to, well, Tebow, for lack of a better verb, with a new team? Tune in to the 2012-2013 NFL season to find out.
